Post 'Acoustic Ghosts' Note

September 17, 2016

I’d like to say a few words, friends.

All good things must come to an end, or so they say. When I dropped off Patrick Craig at the airport this morning, it was more than just the end of a tour. It was more than just the end of a tour that went far better than I could have wished for.

Our personal tour highlights included introducing Paddy to Spaghetti Eis, getting drunk in Bamberg, shooting a music video and playing to more than 800 people on this run.

To all of you lovely people coming out to the shows, without you, this would have been impossible. You are the engine that keeps us going.

To all promoters and hosts, your love and passion was nothing short of spectacular.

Thank you to everyone else involved, Gunnar from Gunner Records, Felix from Flix Agency, every soundtech and caterer. You outdid yourselves!

The end of this tour also meant saying goodbye to someone, whom I had really liked before the tour started and who I now feel is one of the very best people I know. Paddy and I spent the last two and a half weeks in each others company for 24/7 and not for one split second we had anything but fun.

We passed the long drives by listening to I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue playing our own versions of stupid panel-games and generally laughing about the most ridiculous jokes. We shared stories, talked business, discussed music and lyrics and visited as many guitar shops as we could. Paddy, I will miss you but I will also never forget this. To (kind of) quote Humph, “as the short-sighted rhino of time attempts to mount the VW Touran of eternity, and the rubber glove of hope gets lost in the Spaghetti Eis of destiny” I realise that when (not if!) we do this again, we will have even more fun!

x

John
